3rd Generation Southern California native who has lived in the Long
Beach area for over 20 years.
Gary, his wife Dawna, Danielle and Elizabeth have
lived in several communities within Long Beach’s 3rd
City Council District.
Graduated from Cal State University Dominguez Hills with a B.A. in
Business, and earned an MBA from the University of Southern California.
After high school, Gary started working for
AT&T while attending
college. A few years later, he took advantage of an opportunity
to become a telecommunications systems manager for Security
Pacific Bank. He then accepted a significant promotion to Carter
Hawley
Hale
Stores, where he was responsible for managing their telecommunications
infrastructure and deploying advanced technologies.
In 1988 Gary joined a Southern California based telecommunications
company that was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. He
turned the business around by increasing revenues, reducing
expenses,
and focusing
on the customer. The company has been profitable every
year for the last 15 years. DeLong moved the business to
Long Beach 4
years ago
and is currently President & CEO of The RTP Group,
Inc., a successful telecommunications management and software
development
company. Gary
DeLong wants to make our city operate better, as he did
with his telecommunications company.
